Hey everyone!
I am back from Melaka!
Just to enlighten some of you who might not know what brought me there in the first place- I took part in a line dance competition with a brand new team, Force5!
Sze, Rachel, Kit, Florence and I have been practising our butts off in the past month for this competition. Sze and Florence especially, who has provided so much input and ideas to the team. Everything from costumes to formations to the glittery currypuffs on our hair while Kit's mum drove her all the way from Klang for practises 3 to 4 times a week. Usually on weekday nights! There's so much dedication flowing through the team :)
Rachel, Sze and I met up at McD for breakfast before going to Miss B's- chief adjudicator for the night, who was going to drive us to Malacca. We arrived at the historic city at 2pm where we started marking out our spots at Pay Fong High School. There was a slight drama with our formation because we still weren't accustomed to the spacious hall and ran into a little hullaballoo over the contra-lines rule which the organisers decided to abolish since MOST of the teams did not comply to the ruling. But, we had Sze's awesome formations in hand, so contralines or not, we were sure we'd put on a good show anyway!
We got back to the Hallmark Hotel to get ourselves ready for the big night. Shower, costumes, hair, make up and the sort y'know? Getting a little bump on top of the hair was harder than I thought! Florence had to redo mine about 5 times before I ended up looking like a glittery version of a capalang Elvis! Rushed back to the hall as we were already half an hour behind time to find that in typical Malaysian fashion, everything was pushed back ANYWAY.
Aside from the fact that Sze had left the team tag back in the hotel and that Kit almost got ran over by a waiter carrying a large platter of food before ducking under his arm (god bless her height)- everything was smooth sailing before we got onto the floor. Being the third in line to perform is actually a blessing. There was no need to watch the first two on the floor, and after we were done with our performance, we can actually sit back and enjoy the food and the rest of the dances :P Oh, and there was general dancing too! LOL
I think we did pretty well. Our best dance yet! Personally, I felt that I made a little booboo at the start with the speed before I realised that the music seemed to be a tad bit slower than I thought. Adrenaline I guess. But kononnya I picked it up fast enough to cause any damage. Pheeew. Compared to the other teams that night, we weren't exactly at the top energy or costume-wise, but we definitely had awesome variations. 2 of the top teams had made full use of cuteness and sex appeal but I have to give them credits for the skills and energy levels. It was WOAH. Both of them definitely deserved to be in the top 3 teams but I couldn't digest the fact that one of them got first. Krumping and undies to Part Time Lover? Very wrong. I preferred those from Seremban- who got 2nd place :( They had beautiful techniques and synchronisation!
We came in as a VERY close 4th and I am really happy with the result! This team only came together very recently and we haven't been able to develop a desired level of synchronisation yet but we managed to pull off a great performance. YAY!
So after the event ended, we started to hunt for supper. I was EXTREMELY sleepy to be honest. I couldn't really digest anything during the event, nor could I even function the chopsticks with my trembling hands. Found a mamak shop nearby and guess what? There was football on the TV and most of you would know that nothing keeps me awake like a TV or my iMac! Alonso must have waited for me before scoring the goal before my very own eyes! What a hubby. Erk elleh. Was in no mood to watch the match though, still very jittery over the night's events. Ordered roti canai and teh ais. Yummmy. (PS: Thank you May, Sha and my dad for the updates lol)
We then headed back to the hotel. Since they provided only 2 single beds for the three of us and none of us would wanna risk falling through the gap, we decided to reposition everything. A complete overhaul which saw the mattresses yanked to the floor and both the bed frames upturned, raised and leaning against the wall. LMAO. I can so imagine the cleaner's face the next morning.
When Rachel got to the showers, she realised that the heater wasn't functioning so she took a cold shower. I followed suit since I thought the machine was malfunctioning as well. Sze, on the other hand, was DETERMINED to make it work so she jabbed the damned button multiple times till it came to life. AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!
...and thus, I ended up with a flu the next morning.
...which I will post about tomorrow. MWAHAHA.
