Stoke 0-0 Liverpool
I will be ranting based on a fan's point of view. I could be wrong since I don't really play football but I believe that the world has ample space for more sources to select views from.
I felt bad for Lucas. I've been so disappointed in him but just when I thought he was not good enough for the team, he started showing some sort of improvement in his next two games. Unfortunately, taking most of his past performances into consideration- this game against Stoke would be the final straw. It was TERRIBLE.
If Pennant wasn't good enough to own the number he wore, I don't know what could be said for the young Brazilian.
He isn't a bad player but he obviously hasn't got the physical strength nor the pace to compete against Premier League teams. Maybe he's one of those players who develop late but there's no way he should be playing at this level right now. He can hardly win balls be it on air or ground. On field, this boy could single-handedly demolish all the effort that he and the team made to reach the top of the table. Harsh and probably written due to the spur of the moment but everyone else seems to have done their part of the job!!! Heck, we're talking about a player that will be replacing or playing alongside the likes of Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso!
A little flashback here. All the way back to the Barry saga. Rafa wanted Gareth Barry. But our no-way-in-hell-they-will-understand-the-importance-of-football (I mean, be realistic, those two idiots don't even like each other, do u really expect them to sit down and full-heartedly talk about the future of the club and how it can be improved?) owners never got the fans' trust, led us into a mess filled with empty promises, a hell lot of rumors and much more debt. I won't say that we had insufficient funds from the yanks but it seems to me that the SLIGHT improvement was not enough. If something isn't good enough, there's always a possibility that things could go wrong when we're halfway through.
Maybe Rick Parry could have done a better job. It's baffling to know that of all the investors in the world, those two Americans are at the top of the list.
The little improvement means that the club is still stuck in the same rut of having the luxury to spend during the windows but in the same old fashion of splurging on one big player, selling some to get another, and then getting a couple of second-rated ones to fill in the blanks. There's nothing really wrong with that formula really..... if you were managing in the league a decade ago!
So let's say... if Rafa did get Barry and somehow managed to keep Alonso, Lucas would probably not be caught up in this mess. Not that I am implying that Barry would be a guaranteed success but heck, the bottom line was that Rafa did try to get another attacking midfielder as cover.
Poor Lucas.
Make up your own conclusions. I don't know which way am I pointing anymore.
